ASSISTANT PRODUCTION MANAGER

Job Responsibilities

The Assistant Production Manager is responsible for acting as the right hand to the Production Manager in the day to day activities necessary for the technical elements of various performing arts programs in spaces of the Center. Assistant Production Manager will serve as a House Manager (on occasion,) as well as serving in any/all capacities necessary for the production elements of our shows. Additionally, the Assistant Production Manager's duty is to supervise the daily activities of both Whitaker Center employees and guest technicians. 

Some of your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure performance areas are set up and/or returned to normal
  • Advance and manager details pertaining to events scheduled within the Center
  • Confirm that all theater operations comply with licensing and health/safety regulations
  • Schedule and supervisor load-in/load-out
  • Determine necessary technical support for events and performances
  • Attend load-ins, strikes, rehearsals, performances and load-outs

Once trained, you will also assume responsibility for supervision, development and retention of skilled staff.

Requirements:

Degree in arts/theater

2 years responsible experience in operation of a theater, auditorium or similar facility; multi-venue setting preferred

2 years experience interpreting the production needs of artists and other performers

Ability to work a flexible schedule and be on feet for long hours including evenings, weekends and holidays

Knowledge in stating, rigging, sound, lighting, theater design; capacity to troubleshoot technical needs
